Christian Businesses under Fire:
As morality continues to decline in America, Christian businesses are now facing persecution on every side for simply standing for their Religious convictions.
As you will soon learn, a Christian bakery is now being sued for refusing to provide their services to a same-sex couple for their wedding.
According to reports, Aaron and Melissa Klein (Owners of ‘Sweet Cakes by Melissa’) have been ordered to pay $135,000 in damages to a Lesbian couple after refusing to bake their wedding cake in 2013.
The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industry (BOLI) awarded $60,000 to Laurel Bowman-Cryer and $75,000 to Rachel Bowman-Cryer for the ’emotional damage’ they suffered when the Christian couple declined their offer for religious reasons.
“This case is not about a wedding cake or a marriage,” the final order read.
“It is about a business’s refusal to serve someone because of their sexual orientation. Under Oregon law, that is illegal.”
As reported by Fox News:
“According to the BOLI, the lesbian couple suffered great angst. One of the women “felt depressed and questioned whether there was something inherently wrong with the sexual orientation she was born with.” They said she had “difficulty controlling her emotions and cried a lot.”
The other woman “experienced extreme anger, outrage, embarrassment, exhaustion, frustration, intense sorrow and shame” simply because the Kleins refused to provide them with a wedding cake.”
As if the $135,000 wasn’t enough, the Christian couple has been under attack by LGBT activists and ‘Picketers’ since the story hit mainstream media.
The couple’s clients have even reportedly been threatened.
Eventually, the attacks became so targeted and intense that the couple had no choice but to shut down their Bakery.
Mr. Klein picked up another Job as a Garbage man, while Mrs. Klein continues to make cakes from their home.
“We were just running our business the best we could – following the Lord’s example,” she said. “I’m just blown away by the ruling. They are punishing us for not participating in the wedding.”
The Christian couple made it clear that although they could have kept their Business going if they complied and participated in the same-sex wedding, they would much rather lose their business and retain their Religious integrity than denounce what they know is True and Right. Stating that it is always better to “Obey God” rather than Men.
However, the plans to appeal the ruling in Higher Court.
