Government targeting ‘Homophobic’ Churches?
As many of you are already aware, there has long been a struggle between conservative Christians and progressive liberals on the issues of homosexuality and gay marriage.
While bible-believing Christians believe that marriage is (and will always be) exclusively between a man and a woman, progressive liberals argue that marriage should be open to any consenting adult no matter their gender. However until recent years, the debate has always been at a dead-lock.
According to reports, Churches who oppose gay-marriage could be at risk of losing their tax-exempt status should the supreme court rule that every couple (no matter gender) has a Constitutional right to be wed.
According to President Obama’s attorney: (Donald B. Verrilli jr.)
“There is no federal law now generally banning discrimination based on sexual orientation, and that’s where those issues are going to have to be worked out”
Christians Respond: ‘We will Not Obey’
As the Supreme Court prepares to make it’s decision, a group of prominent religious officials have sent a short yet concise message to the Supreme Court should it’s ruling on issue defy their religious beliefs.
“We will not Obey”
“We respectfully warn the Supreme Court not to cross that line,” read a document titled, Pledge in Solidarity to Defend Marriage. “We stand united together in defense of marriage. Make no mistake about our resolve.”
“While there are many things we can endure, redefining marriage is so fundamental to the natural order and the common good that this is the line we must draw and one we cannot and will not cross,” the pledge states.
