Early Snakes had feet and ‘Walked’ ?

According to research published in the journal BMC evolutionary Biology, some scientists now believe that nearly 128 million years ago, the early snake was a creature that possessed a small set of hind-legs equipped with ankles and toes (meaning it walked on land).

“This study is a big deal in the world of snakes because it’s the first comprehensive analytical study of early snake evolutionary history,” lead study author Allison Hsiang of Yale University told reporters.

“That is, even though snake origins have been debated and studied for a long time, this is first time all of these big questions have been tested computationally using cutting-edge methods.”

However the Study also suggests that although the early creature may have had a set of hind-legs, it probably didn’t use them that much. However if it did, there is no way to tell how fast it could move.

“Regarding the hindlimbs, it’s unlikely that the ancestor of living snakes was using [them] for locomotion at all – more likely they were just vestigial appendages,” she said. “Even if they were using them for locomotion, however, I wouldn’t be able to say how fast they moved – that sort of thing is very difficult to reconstruct.”

The ‘Genesis’ Serpent

walkingNow although we (as Christians) don’t (or at least shouldn’t) buy into the theory of evolution and it’s ‘far fetching’ explanations of life and creation — This is an interesting observation.

The truth is, no matter how hard evolutionists try to promote their overly exalted theories as ‘fact’ — they have no idea about the TRUE origins of the Universe, the Earth, and all it’s inhabitants.

In fact, even the numbers often used to symbolize the age of the earth and universe is nothing more than a glorified guess — or a fancy ‘hunch’.

This team probably spent countless hours fishing through piles and piles of information (some accurate, some not) and developed numerous theories — just to conclude that the early serpent could probably ‘Walk’ …

Call me ol’fashioned, but I think it would be much easier to just believe the Bible!

In the book of Genesis, The Bible gives the account of Adam, Eve, and the Serpent.

Long story short, God punished all 3 of them for their wrongdoing (Genesis 3).

And what was the punishment for the serpent?

(Gen 3:14)  “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:”

Here God cursed the serpent that from that point on, it shall crawl upon it’s belly all the days of it’s life. However if God is telling the serpent that it must NOW go upon its belly, then clearly it was not doing so up until that point.

Although the purpose of this article is not to insult the team that put in all the time and effort to come to this conclusion, Isn’t it much easier to just trust the word of God?
