$1.1 Trillion, Spending money that we don’t have
Sen. Rand Paul was fired up Sunday saying that he voted against the enormous $1.1 Trillion spending bill because not only was it rushed through congress — but no one actually had a chance to read it. It was essentially an “Impulse Purchase” because congress was given only [about] 24hrs to review the document (can anyone read a 2,000+ page document that fast?)
The deal was reportedly brokered by the new Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan (picture above). However many people were disappointed with Ryan’s support for this bill.
Here is what Rand Paul (R) said in an interview:
“It was over a trillion dollars, it was all lumped together, 2,242 pages, nobody read it, so frankly my biggest complaint is that I have no idea what kind of things they stuck in that bill in the middle of the night,”
“I voted against it because I won’t vote for these enormous bills that no one has a chance to read,”
As many of you already know, The United States is already head-over-heels in debt. We are currently $18 Trillion “in the hole” and we are on pace to meet $20 Trillion in about another year. However the American people gave Republicans the majority vote because the GOP promised that they would fight back against the ridiculous spending taking place in Washington.
Nevertheless, this ridiculous spending bill was approved by a large number of both Republicans and Democrats with a vote of 316-113. President Obama signed the piece of Legislation into Law on Friday.
Here is the List of all 150 GOP members who voted ‘YES’. (you may want to have a seat)
