As reported by JNS.org — A Nigerian government official praised Israel for being a “Crucial and Loyal ally” in Nigeria’s fight against the radical Islamic terror-cell known as Boko Haram.
“Israel has been a crucial and loyal ally in our fight against Boko Haram,” Mike Omeri, the chief coordinating spokesman of Nigeria’s National Information Center, told the Jerusalem Post.
“It is a sad reality that Israel has a great deal of experience confronting terrorism. Our Israeli partners have used that experience, and the unique expertise gained over years of fighting terror within its own borders, to assist us.”
According to sources, under President Goodluck Jonathan — ties between Nigeria and Israel are strengthening as both countries battle Islamic extremists on every front.
In 2013, Jonathan visited Israel and while there signed an aviation deal to allow more Nigerian Christians to visit the Jewish state.
Israel in the meantime has provided much needed assistance to Nigeria in search of the 300 school-girls kidnapped by Boko Haram last year.
As Islamic extremism rises in the middle-east as well as world-wide, Countries like Nigeria are showing that they are fully committed not only to fighting the radical ideology — but to stand and defend the one and only Jewish nation.
The Obama Administration could learn a lot from Nigeria’s initiative.
