Kirk Franklin to Partner with Kanye West?
This is the question that has been running through everyone’s mind after this image was posted to the Instagram account of the notorious rap-star “2 Chainz”.
However before I continue, I would just like to go on record and say that I have honestly given Kirk Franklin the benefit of the doubt in virtually every controversial move he has made — However this post is coming after I have completely run out of “benefits” to give.
In this image you have Kanye West, Mike Dean, A$AP Mob’s A$AP Bari, and Gospel’s very own…Kirk Franklin.
In fact, Franklin stated in one interview that he was actually envious of West for making “Jesus Walks” in 2004.
However when asked his opinion on many of the controversial actions of Kanye West such as calling himself “yeezus” (a blasphemous spin on “Jesus”) — Franklin simply stated:
“Well, what I would say to him or to anyone is that my relationship with people gives me opportunity to share with them, and I don’t always consider it wise [to comment publicly]”
Wow, talk about backing down from an opportunity. When Jesus was asked about the behavior of the Pharisees, he didn’t spare the truth from public ears in order to “Keep his friends”. Instead he told the truth to everyone who was willing to listen!
“Do as they say, not as they do. For they say, and do not (hypocrites)” (Matt 23:3)
Nice and simple. It is not a full-throttle verbal assault on the pharisees (although they were deserving of one), Jesus simply tells it like it is.
When “The World” infiltrates the Church
It is never a good day when I see fellow Christians being “seduced” by worldly influence and standards — however when I see it happening, I have a responsibility to blow-the-whistle.
Even If Kirk does believe that the behavior of artists like ‘Kanye’ and ‘2 chainz’ is improper, the fact that he is so concerned with preserving his relationship with secular artists that he will allow that concern to mute his Christian-view is unnerving.
I mean honestly, would it have killed Kirk to stand up for his Lord and Saviour by saying “No, I don’t agree with the title ‘Yeezus’ “?
I mean he could have even followed that up with, “But I still respect Kanye as an artist” or something along the lines of that. Anything would have been better than nothing, but to completely dismiss the obvious play on the name “Jesus” was beyond disappointing.
However I have No doubt that having Kanye West as an ally will boost Kirk’s ratings, however is it really worth it?

Backsliding: It’s everywhere
However as many of you already know, you can only take [so many] steps to the left until you are “way in left field”. Sadly I believe this is what is happening in the Gospel industry.
When I see the direction that many Gospel artists are taking today, I can’t help but be reminded of Tonex.
Do you guys remember him?
When Tonex began singing Gospel Music, he hit the ground running! Releasing the hit single “Make Me Over Again” that won the hearts of countless Christians and fans.
However slowly but surely, Tonex began taking those “Left Steps”.
It started with a weird change in wardrobe, he began wearing very “droopy” clothes. Although some Christians thought it a little strange, they soon got used to it.
However The “Left steps” didn’t stop there.
Tonex then began to wear “female” apparel such as head scarfs, amulets, and bracelets.
Again, he raised some eye-brows in the Christian community, but many still retained some hope for him.
So where is Tonex Now?
First note that he is no longer “Tonex”, instead he has re-branded himself as “B slade”.
B. Slade is a Homosexual actor, dancer, singer and song-writer who now writes music in order to encourage many in the LGBT community (Lesbians, Gays, Bi-sexuals, and Transgender) to embrace and love themselves.
(Talk about a change in direction)
But this is exactly what happens when Christians (especially artists) allow themselves to be seduced by Hollywood, Mainstream media, and the secular culture. This is why God purposely placed a “barrier” between his Church and the world.
(1 Corinth, 15:33) “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.“
(2 Corinth. 6:17) “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”
(John 15:19) “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
Despite what anyone tells you, Christians are NOT supposed to “Fit in” with the world.
Why? Because the two are (and will always be) at odds with one another! Therefore there can never be any type of “Agreement” or “Collaboration” between the two.
(2 Corinth. 6:14) “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
In fact, according to the words of Jesus in John 15 — if the World Loves us, it is probably because we belong to IT (the world) and not to God.
Yet Christians today are being seduced into thinking that we must behave in a certain way in order to get the world to Love and accept us. Although this may be good for “TV Ratings”, this is not good for our Relationship with Christ.
