Teens tried as Adults for Child Sacrifice
Two 12-year old girls from Waukesha, Wisconsin were arrested this weekend and charged for their attempted murder of one of their friends. Both Geyseir and Weier have been charged as adults and now face up to 65 years in prison.
Morgan E. Guyser was allowed to have two friends over each year for a sleepover on her birthday (May 30th). It was this opportunity that lead Morgan and her accomplice Anissa E. Weier to plan how they would murder the girl.
Their victim, another 12-year old girl was stabbed 19 times by the two girls and left for dead. fortunately, the victim was able to find the strength to crawl out of the woods (where the girls left her) and onto the side-walk where a nearby cyclist had found her and contacted an ambulance. She was then rushed to a nearby hospital where she desperately fought for her own life.
A Sacrifice to “Slender Man”
When the girls were confronted by the police regarding why they had done these things, both girls admitted that their actions were driven by their desire to show loyalty to a demonic character known as “Slender Man”.
The girls claim that they first learned about “Slender” from a website called Creepy Pasta, which is devoted to both dark and satanic horror stories. The girls then explained to the police that how they believe that slender was more than a fictional character and how they believed they would be able to find him once the had successfully sacrificed their victim to him.
A Call To Parents
Although this is a sad story indeed, what is even sadder is that this is merely one incident where things like this has happened. These 2 girls were clearly seduced by the idea of this demonic character found on this website — but I can only question how involved the parents were. Not only were the children able to get access to such dark, and twisted information — but there was virtually no parental supervision taking place at all.
Parents have not only a natural responsibility to their children, but a spiritual responsibility to them as well. Although we cannot control the actions of our children — we can indeed guide them in the right direction by instilling proper morals. But these two teens seem to feel as if they have done nothing wrong. Although their crime was indeed heinous — It saddens me to realize that these girls will spend 65 years of their life in prison for something foolish they did at the age of 12.
As parents, lets take a greater role in the lives of our children. Let us not only be natural guardians, but let us also be the spiritual guardians that God has called us to be to our children.
