North Korea: Revenge Hack

The FBI announced Friday that through extensive research they discovered that North Korea was the perpetrator behind the Sony Hack that lead Sony Pictures Entertainment to cancel the upcoming movie “The Interview.”

This upcoming movie was a satirical Action/Comedy starring Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen).

In the Movie, the 2 men discovered that the North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un (Randall Park) is a fan of their tabloid-TV show “Skylark” tonight — so they arrange an interview to meet Kim in hopes of becoming recognized journalists.

Unfortunately right before they meet Kim Jong Un, the CIA steps in and recruits them. Their assignment? To assassinate the dictator of North Korea.

SONY: Anonymous threats

According to sources, SONY officials also received messages warning them that it would be “very wise” for them to not just cancel the movie, but to ensure that no copies were ever released including “DVD or Piracy”.

The anonymous hackers released a treasure trove of embarrassing emails, messages, and photos that belonged to Sony in response to the film. They also threatened violence against major movie theaters who displayed the movie.

According to sources, U.S. officials suspected North Korea as being the conspirators of this crime but evidence didn’t emerge until the technical analysis had been completed.

The FBI said Friday that its analysis of the attacks had discovered links to North Korean-developed malware including lines of encryption algorithms.

“North Korea’s actions were intended to inflict significant harm on a U.S. business and suppress the right of American citizens to express themselves,” said the FBI.

“Such acts of intimidation fall outside the bounds of acceptable state behavior.”

On Wednesday, Sony made the unprecedented decision to cancel the upcoming Christmas-Day release of the comedy film.
